ancient wisdoms in vedic hinduism-9
  • Unimportance of the external characters:
    (Paramhamsopanisad)

The true identity of a person who has merged with the absolute is none
The external relationships like relatives, family, wealth education or fame are of no importance
The coiled up hair or the sacred thread worn across the chest are also nothing
A person who has merged with the absolute has no time, pleasures, food, posession or place
He has a piece of cloth around his waist, a stick to lean and a bowl to beg
Even these are not necessary for him
His identity is in his complete merging with the absolute truth
He is the person with godliness

    meaning:
The absolute knowledge does not require the physical principles and it is independent of them-hence it is called metaphysics. The person who pursues metaphysics should know to delineate the matter and non-matter. The physical principles are non-matter and the absolute is the matter. Physical principles are theory laden and will not take one to know the metaphysical truth.
