Does anyone know when the last series of kumbabhishekam/renovations were done at Kalahasti?
done by the authorities with regard to the upkeep of the temple for several years. Or quite possibly, they used the wrong techniques (concrete to shore up lime-and-mortar walls, maybe? That can weaken both structures).
It may be worthwhile seeing what was done and not done in those efforts, so that we can at least figure out what is necessary to protect the rest of the temple, and other temples built in similar ways.
We should learn at least something from this incident!
Looks about an year or two back a kumbabishegam was done with sand blasting as usual.
In Thiruchanoor siva temple, when i requested for not doing sand blasting ( where many chola inscriptions survive), i was pointed out on Kalahasthi and asked to keep quiet.
