    Arunagirinathar has sung on this place. He calls the place as " Valikondapuram".
     
    The "konda" might have been corrupted as" Kanda."

    And a legend must have been built around it.
     
    But leaving that aside - The temple is Valeeswaram - Worshipped by vali and the name is used from Aditya 1 period.
