picture of two chalukyan murugan
  • Dear Friends

last week been to palakkollu. One of the Panchrama kshetras. It is now a complete concrete temple. However Draksharama and Kumararama are well preserved. Draksharama has many inscriptions of our cholas. The History of Andhra mentions about the women in service of draksharama temple, having a family of their own and the contributions made by them.

The Palakkollu inscriptions according to  the History of Andhra says  about a donation made to the trust of temple women for the maintenance of the temple.

It is learnt that these women maintained a trust in all temples, maintained the propoerty and also instrumental in sreading the religion and bhakthi.

The Palkkollu is now a complete concrete temple.

Taken the picture of 2 murugans on wall.

Except the Main lingam and ambal, these two murugans ,nandi and a veerabhadra at the entrance are the only remains i could see of the old temple.

I have posted one murugan in the asi maintained golingeswara temple .

The Murugans hold arrow in palakkollu. One in palkkollu and the other in Golingeswara temple hold pasam in one hand. In all the three the he is with peacock.
