As requested by Dr Sridhar, I made detailed enquiries on RR's portraits / statues recently. Kudavoil Dr.Balu confirmed that :
1. The so called Karuvurar - RR (which I interpreted as RR & Rajendra) are really the 4 rishis sitting in front of Dakshinamurthy; Dr. Kalaikkovan is also of the same opinion.
2. Thennavan Moovenda Velalan cast a statue of Rajaraja & his wife Olagamadevi - with folded hands standing in front of one Chandrasekarar (not traceable now) when RR was alive, as per the inscriptions of 1014 AD in Big Temple. The RR statue was named as PERIYADEVAR - but not worshipped. 73 CMs (Onedrarai muzha uyaram) tall statue was purchased by Sarabai Museum Ahmedabad (in early 20th Century) in an auction by the British. It is with the Museum even today.
3. After RR's demise, Rajendra donated a Viboodhi madal to periyadevar.
4. Picture filed is RR statue erected in front of Periyakoil - in recent times.
5. Kudavoil says that in Periyakoil there is a portait in the upper floor - opposite to RR worshipping in Chidambaram - depicting RR worshipping Peruvudayar in sitting posture with his wives. He was exhibiting a big mustashe with wide spread hands in folding posture! This was the inspiration for Sivaji (Ganesan) to play his role in RR Film. Thanks to Dr.Nagaswamy!
Dear SB Thanks for the info but you still havent answered my questions as to 1.what time frame is the bronze RR about one and a half feet in periyakoil opposite the urchavamoorthi
2. who's sculpture is on the kodikambam again with folded hands worshipping the lingam

I still have doubts with this because dakshinamoorthy painting is on another wall in another direction. If you look at the paintings map provided by kudavoil, you'll see they are in altogether different places. There was no need for the painter to represent the sanagathi munivar and sanat kumara in a different place.

Did we miss this painting during our visit with Dr.K ? I remember the place but I don't recollect seeing anything opposite to chidambaram painting.
