Red tribes in aayirathil oruvan

    Day before yesterday I attended Tamil Sangamam with Dr.Kudavyil Balasubramanian's presentation. There were also a lecture from Prof.Champakalakshmi.

    Interestingly in the fresco paintings of Periya koil with certain people in the painting are red.

    I also found this in aayirathil oruvan movie where one set of warriors are painted totally red.

    Is there any significance for this red body paint?

    bull fighters dress in red not to infuriate the bull( its color blind) but to hide any wounds and bleeding.
    perhaps one bleeding injured warrior would have a dampening effect on the other's morale.

    But The British RedCoats had them Red because that was the cheapest dye...Not because they hide blood!!
