  • Dear SPS,
I don't find any info on source of the murthi in the
Nagaswamy article. I've gotten fixated on Skanda's
rooster, shown in early North Indian murthis, before
    His vahana became a peacock.

  • Roosters are also signified for fighting abilities. The jungle warrior could have been associated with it for this reason !!??
  • Dear Kathie,

    Very nice.

Will get that source too within 2 - 3 days and post.

    regards / sps

  • Thanks, Ravi for the fowl info. I'm finally satisfied
having found Skanda's Avesta connection, and will be interested
in hearing deep meaning of 'Guha'.
Thanks for your help w those feisty birds.

  • Dear SPS,
Thanks so much for tracking that image down. I was pretty
certain that it was from North India, & sure
enough. I'll examine it further to see if I have any other
questions. Didn't see it when I was at that museum, but
    no photos allowed inside anyway.
    I really appreciate your work.
