freinds, i have having this doubtfor more than 30 years. sambandar hymns has two chapters on srilankan temples. they are 1.thirukedheeswaram in mannar district 2. thirukoneswaram in trincomalee district
from various sources i have learnt that the koneswarm temple had a 1000 pillair hall(built by pallavs?) until 1450. it was apparently destroyed by portugese.
keddheeswaram temple is also in total ruins.
my feeling is there were saivite societies in those areas in the 7th century. so there were tamil towns there. then why reluctance among some of us to accept tamils of northern province as the natives of the island. why we have a double standards in accepting this? i know some intellects(psuedo)in TN who says tamils of jaffna migrated from tanjore only 5oo years ago. i agree there were continuos migration all through the 2500 years.
the saivite temples along with the siva devaleys(built by RRC) in polannaruwa needs protection.
