KUMUDHAM REPORTER :: 27.09 ISSUE
  • Dear Friends,

    Two things from the Kumudham Reporter published on 23,09 Wednesday - caught my attention which I want to share ::

    One is an observation in the recently held District Collectors' Conference with the CM ::

    Namakkal (close to Kollimalai) Collector Mr. Sahayam has observed that in Uzhavar Sandhai ( Free market for Farmers / Producers - without Brokers) - Farmers could sell rice easily for higher price than selling paddy. So working on value additions, in his District - Ragi Dosa, Ragi cakes, Kollimalai herbal soups etc., are now offered in the Canteens - which are ancient Tamil foods !!

    CM directed other Collectors also give suitable try in their respective area !

    Another is an article by veteran writer Solai ::

    Cautioning the evil-effect on using Chemical based Fertilisers, advocating Natural Fertilisers he pointed out that Karnataka CM Ediyurappa could trace the source to one Maharastrian Agricultural specialist ( Palekar ?) - who is following the footprints of (Late) Vinobabawe ( Gandhian - Bhoodhanam fame) who is championing the cause of using natural fertilisers (cattle waste - bio waste etc) which is much cheaper and healthier for all. He organised a Training progm with his officials through him and found very successful.

    Andhra CM (Late Reddigaru) also held a similar training progm.

    Recalled Vairamuthu's speech that grant of " Savamoovapperadu " (Cattles to get ghee to burn perpetual lamps) by ancient Tamil Kings had really far-reaching implications in the welfare of the society.
