Good noon, Today(Dec 7) I saw in Dinamani dated Dec 6, a new Chozha period kalvettu and a karungal peetam(kal mandapam) are found near Ulundurpettai, to be exact in a place called Elavanaasoorkottai. There is a Siva temple nearby which is a very old one. The local authorities have informed the Arch'gy Dept.. They believe that the kalvettu and the peetam might have been built by Chozha kings who lived around 957-970AD.
This was found, when the people of this village gathered to build a Perumal temple in that particular place and performed a Boomi Poojai and started to dig. This is really interesting, have you got any info regarding this matter from anybody else?
Good evening, this is bhuvana, silent member of PSVP. In Villupuram district, Elavanaasurkottai, a 1000-year-old temple is found underneath. It was built by Kulothunga Chola I and named after one of his titles "Dhasa narayanan"- Dhasa Narayana Vinnagaram The historian-archaeologist Mr. Pichchai Pillai of Villupuram district have confirmed this news. Just now I saw this in Jaya Plus Channel.
People of this village gathered here to build a Perumal temple and performed Boomi Poojai and started to dig and at 5 feet depth they found a kalvettu and a peetam. Further they found a Mugapu Mandapam or something like that, which I'm not sure. It is also a Perumal temple. Really exciting and interesting.
