"....hmmm life is not equal to energy.. that is a fallacy in your proposition. the "matter" in the body is conserved as ash.. and hence energy and mass conservations are not violated..."
In every living being, in addition to mass and physical energy, isn't there something that is 'mental energy'? Sometimes people do miraculous things, purely due to their mental strength at that particular time (mano sakthi). You will have heard recently that scientists have made a monkey to pick up and eat a banana purely by its thoughts. When a living being moves from A to B, what propels it to do that is mental energy.
When someone dies, the physical matter in the body is, indeed, conserved as ash, water and gases. What happens to the mental energy? It must go somewhere.
On the other hand, when a child is born, the parents can only give its physical body. The mental energy (mano sakthi) of that child can never be given by its parents. The mental energy is evident as soon as the child is born. Notwithstanding the genetics, the children of the same parents turn out to be totally different. Where does the child gets it from?
The 'theory' of re-incarnation just audits the two phenomena and comes up with a possible answer/hypothesis which fits all the possible scenarios. ie. it is the mental energy that passes to another suitable body that is fit for its purpose. There is no scientific proof for it (yet). There are so many scientific theories for which there are no proofs. Scientists even change their 'theories' from time to time (eg: string theory). Even the Big Bang is only a theory at present.
All very interesting but nothing to do with Lakshman Prasad's matrimony and certainly will not help find his partner! So, may be we should change the title. I'll be bold and do it myself!
Atpu, "mental energy".. again a postulate.. I have never heard of that as one of the forms of energy. This is again just a word that people come up with for what they don't understand. Or is it maybe that the thought that this might be our ONLY shot at life upsets people and hence to deal with it, we have invented this psychological prop of reincarnation?
Thinking of it rationally, the population of the world continues to increase. Reincarnation is said to take every species into account.. so does that mean that the total population of all the species in the world since the beginning of time is a constant? Or is there an output from this closed system (earth) that still leads to the discrepancy that we see. The answer to that might be "heaven". Well where might that be?
I personally have always thought of heaven and hell as manifestations of our good and bad selves.. of our state of mind rather than any distinct place where Yama looks at people and goes : "you, to hell.. you to heaven" etc :)
