This temple in Tondai Naadu, received endowments from the Imperial Cholas, as seen from the inscriptions from the period of Raja Raja Chola II.

Hi acharapakkam is on the 90th km from madras actually achu- iru- pakkam ( where the axle of shiva's charriot broke) for a long time acharapakkam like sriperumbudur used to be the hot bed of accidents. the temple is visible from the railway track and those travelling to trichy in the mornings can see it just after mel maruvathur. 2 lingams . one suyambu. the main thing is apillayar temple outside the complex called achu muri vinayakar. a must see for the accident prone for he protects them.
