Thanks to all of you for approving my request firstly. Came to know about the group while reading the preface of 'Kaviri Mainthan' by Anusha Venkatesh and decided to explore the posisbility of discussing things with like -minded people.
To tell you what my background is, my name is Shrikanth and am 41 yrs old , a native of Madurai settled at Chennai presently. Employed as Head - Operations in Sify Ltd. Been an avid reader of both Tamil & English on various subjects. Lately trying to dabble around a bit of writing also.
PS has been a dream that I live through everytime I read. And it never ceases to amaze me, when I dig deep into the various aspects of the story, about the plot, about the connection to random events that happened 1000 yrs back , the characterisation, the language and 'nadai' that literally transports you to Pazhayaarai, Thanjavur , Anuradhapuram, Kadambur etc, the suspense, and the pride it gives me to recall the riches that we had as Tamizhs in culture & wealth.
Very recently I had the good fortune to have a chat with Sujatha the writer, and he was talking about how he has written a script with Mani for PS and that once again triggered an imagination of running that as a movie in mind. Pity that I missed the stage play by Magic Lantern ( wish they cld be restage it )
The last time I read PS was about a couple of years and it is time for a brush up. But now deeply into Kaviri Mainthan. Have a desire to do the trail on Vanthiya Thevan, drawing a map of his journey from the first chapter. A group journey would be amazing to do that and though it is too early for me to say that, maybe this is the group that should do it.
Will be going thru the initial posts and later maybe join the discussion forums. If the group has left anything to be discussed :))
