This topic surfaced a couple of years back whether a statue was rightly interpreted by ASI as BUDDHA or was it THEERTHANGA ? -- related to an emissary from Sree Vijayam (Kadaram) visiting some where near Kanchi / Chingleput!
If Buddha is anti-vedic and anti-brahminic, how is it that he is shown to be wearing a 'poonul' in this panel? Perhaps there is more than one explanation for this depiction!
That was a good question. This, to a little extent, corroborates my point that the Buddha Avatar mentioned in Srimadh Bhagavatham and Gauthama Buddha are not one and the same and that it is a clear case of mistaken identity due to the similarity in the names.
