There have been some speculations that there eixsted differences between Rajaraja and Rajendra.
The traditions followed in RRC's Thanjai Big temple and Rajendra's Thiruvarur temples are listed here by Mahamahobatyaya U.Ve. Saaminathayyar (@ Thamizhthaatha)::
1. Thajai Vidangar; Thyaga Vidangar in Thiruvarur. 2. Ajaba Dance. (Dance without effort) in both the temples. 3. Vasanthothsavam :: 18 days in both these temples; 4. Suddha Mathalam / Yekkalam : in both these temples; 5. Thiagarajar Ula (Purppaadu ) and Peruvudayar purappadu are on identical days / system; 6. In Thanjai Peruvudayar Puja takes place after Thyagaraja puja. Same is the case in Thiruvarur also. 7. Sundramurthy was accorded prominence in both these temples. 8. AAZHITHER (Chariot) of Thiruvarur is very famous. Rao Bahadur Srinivasa Pilla's THAMIZH VARALARU is quoted that the Minister of Sivaji (Rao) Somanatha Pandithar found it difficult to get the number of persons to pull the BIG THER (Chariot) OF THE BIG TEMPLE !
