being branded as safron brigade is much better of than being put in a sunnambu kalvai or being thrown in the sea or being impaled on a stake or having the eyes gouged out.
all these happened in your so called golden period of tamil history.
Dear SPS, It is a great news to all history lovers. The Subject you still maintain Saint Ramanuja for this particular mail. Udaiyavar was born in the year 1017. Raja Raja lived in that year. It is not co-incidence. Great.
thanks sps sir for making us take note of this inscription. i am no epigraphist so i turned to dr rajavelu. while he confirmed the authenticity of the information that the epigraph belong to RR, he casted his doubts on the regnal year.
1. they have used numerals instead of words. therefore, the engraver might have committed a mistake as the tamil numeral for 2 and 3 are more or similar.
2. kan sastri is of the opinion that the donations of RR recorded at Tanjavur ends with 29th year. therefore the same was taken to be thelast regnal year.
3, it is common fact that the regions located far away from the capitral contiunue to use the regnal years of a king in spite of the fact he died long back. for example the long regnal years for the pallava kings in the chengal nadukarkkal.
4. this case being in the heartland sems to be a aberation. hence given no importance by the historian.
5. the record is incomplete shows the unprofessional, and possibly the no-backing of any royal authority.
6, rajavelu will come back with more concrete information. i hope.
> > 2. kan sastri is of the opinion that the donations of RR recorded at > Tanjavur ends with 29th year. therefore the same was taken to be thelast regnal year.
SIMPLE the year rrc stops making donations he is considered dead.
(perhaps another meaning for tharmam thalai kaakkum!!!!)
when quite a few of his anscestors had specific titles for the ways they died lik pon maalikai thunjiya sundarar. vadakkil thunjchiya, yaanai mel thunjiya............ etc
as shankaran says two later chola prices were murdered on the way to the chola throne.
when so much is known about the deaths of chola kings what do we know about one of the dynasty's greater sons.
just while we are in the topic how did rajendran die and when?
If we take RR lived in 1017, its smoething great ,Ramanuja may be a only person who can lived with great kings, Rajarajan, Rajendra,Rajathiraja,Veerarajendra, up to Kulothungaa.
I am just thinking is ramanuja has left any details may be directly or indirectly on the political movements on those said period? cos those period is very very important and we don't have many details.
