Citizen of Soil
  • Dear Dinakaran,

The idea is to invoke that sense of belonging ..

    1. I picked this idea from the Trichy Ayyappan Temple - SILENCE
ZONE - NO KANIKKAI - SELF SERVICE ETc., - where they have exhibited
the Stones / pebbles brought from all the Indian Rivers - Ganges -
    Narmadha - Godhavari etc.

    2. I also read of a Yagnam where Water from 27 Rivers were used ...

Combining these, I made a habit of taking soil from places of some
significance - Bakthi - Patriotism - History etc., and also water
in a small container - if no river - atleast from the temple tank /
    well -which is ancient.

It is long list - Madurai included.

Tiruppurambiyam lady was deserted by a Pandya and the Vanniatree
with well went to Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple to give evidence of
their secret-wedding! The story is exhibited in Tiruperumbiyam
(Pallippadai - opening Chapter of PS - where Vijayala is granted his
freedom to run his province) as well as Madurai!

How can Madurai be discarded my dear friend!?

    sps
  • Dear Sir;

It was just a joke and i apologise if it was taken in any other sense.

Also please refer me as Rahul. Only my overseas clients refer my father (Mr
Dhinakaran) and me by the same name which creates quite a confusion at home
    when they call.

Hope to learn more from your mails.
