Well said. I too felt bad when not even a mention about these flood is done in any of the national channels. Worst thing, Sun TV complaining about that nothing is being done, when everything possible is being done. How inhuman, making politics out of such disasters.
My father reached home safely yesterday evening after a two day ordeal. Dalmia cement company distributed food packets to all the train passengers stranded in DalmiaPuram / Pullambadi area. The entire belt looks like ocean, my father said.
Within hours the trains were halted in ariyalur, plenty of busses came to the station to evacuate passengers to other cities like Tanjavur, tiruchi etc so that the small village Ariyalur doesnt get overcrowded. Pretty proactive measure....but this Sun TV a bane for our state. Train drivers were very much cooperative and waited for nearly an hour so that people can know about the departure of a train from ariyalur to chennai and board it even late.
Line man gandhi who ran one km to save the Anathapuri express and the other line man(forgot the name) who used his personal cellphone to alert the authorities are incarnation of god who save thousands of life.
Hope the rain stops and we can limp back to normalcy. As Swetha said, the best thing we can do is PRAY..
In olden days, the individual and family responsiblities were in line with the social responsibility. Hence, during the war, each family, was willing to takepart in it, by making male members to fight. Adhithi satkaram or virundhombal, was given a immense importance as we read in stories and history.
Now a days, first is me, then my family, then my relatives and then town, city, district, state, etc. This may be correct in many occasions and not during disasters.
If there had been a regular, activity of cleaning the tanks, ponds, etc. Then the situation may have been different now.
Good to hear about the intiative to clean the temple, that may trigger this also. Actioning before the actual hit is commendable, but, reaction atleast is a prudence.
Dear SPS,Amar and Arun It really distressing to hear about the floods.. dr Kalaikovan was telling the other day in Sun TV about flood management of arasilaru with Naanal on the banks May be our ancestors had the brains which we have lost to result in thses catostrophic floods unfortunately its the govt which ignores and uses old waterways and lakes for other purposes remember the stanley viaduct which is now MRTS
I understand its now taking 5 hours to get to thanjavur from Trichy
