Sittanavasal - Legacy of Chitrasutra
  • Dear Friends,
You would have seen and read a lot about the amazing site of Sittanavasal
from our dear friend Vijay and respected mentor Prof Swaminathan. There is
nothing much I can add to the above two accounts. However I have dared to write
few points on this site, just another long write up :). Hope you will like it.

I am very thankful to Ashok Krishnaswamy who allowed me to use his photos
    for paintings.

    Salient Feature:
    1. It is a Jaina cave. A Pandya king and a Pallava king were Jainas before they
were converted to Hindus by Appar. Who you feel could have constructed this
    cave?

  • hi Saurabh

Appar takes credit for the conversion of the Pallava king, but for
conversion of Pandya King its the act of his queen Mangaiyarkarasi and
    Sambandar.
  • Hi Vijay and Sankar sir,
Very sorry for this mistake, I miss read this point in Dr Nagaswamy's
article. I have corrected this mistake. Thanks again for notifying this grave
    mistake in the article.
  • Saurab

Nice coverage and let us schedule the interview we planned on Stanford Radio
(www.itsdiff.com) in the next 2 weeks. I would love to have these reach wider
    audience all over the globe.
