I want to share my thoughts on this article, but thought silence is golden
    :) enjoy...
  • I am at a loss on why Tamil should not receive much attention. After all it is a text book for TN students, nah ?
  • *sigh*

I see that my old friend Lemuria is in there... Really, this is about as bad
as creationism in the west - hopelessly outdated theory kept alive for
    political/religious reasons...

Is this textbook online like the CBSE ones? I think one can do a thorough
    review/debunking of it.

    Shash
  • Hmm, the version up at http://www.textbooksonline.tn.nic.in/Std6.htm seems
to be much more sane than what's described in the article. More conservative
dates for the Sangam age, a good 4 chapters on the Pallavas, though
strangely, nothing on the imperial Cholas or Vijayanagara.

It still reads like a piece of Sangam age propaganda, but at least no
    Lemuria...

    Shash
  • good work Shash

Sometime back, was asked to write a 10 page foreword for one of the govt
dept's book which was scheduled to come in conjunction with the 1000th year
celebrations. Half way through, the demands for certain compulsory
references went wild ( you know what i am talking off) - was happy to give
them a big thank you and ran away for it !!
  • fantastic Shash - never realised that a class 4 text book can be so good

  • There are references in PatitrupPathu and Silambu on Brammadeyam

Silambu refers to Thiruthangal given as Brammadeyam to Varthigan.
