All acclaimed Hollywood movies depend on marketing and hype too. The merchandise they sell out to gullible and the children must run into millions if not billions.
Like for making a film like Endhiran in Hollywood - it would have cost not less than 1000 Crores or so. ! and reportedly the expenditure for producing in India is marked below or so.
Meaning - HOLLY WOOD - when take note of this Film - Endhiran, is likely to SELECT INDIA - as another Destination to make economical Hollywood Films - which involve graphics etc., etc !!
As India is becoming Medical Tourism Destination, India is also likely to be favoured as Hollywood Films Producing destination !!

AP has a great following of Shankar and Rajini. Some of them are die-hard fans of these two, as fanatic as one could find in TN. With this movie Shankar has become pan-Indian. Though Rajini is used to sell the movie, this is a fully a Shankar movie. Reviews of common people across the country show how they earn something spectacular from India and Indians. And this movie satisfies some of the earnings. Barring the stupid in South and North, many see this as a great achievement of India. Though the special affects were done by American company; and Shankar used international experts.
As I am also part of VFX team in ENDHIRAN I wanna clarify few things here ..
First of all Hollywood companies done very small roll in this film. Only around 20% of works were done by them. Remaining works done by various companies in India under VFX supervisor VSM Mohan Indian Artists.
Second thing Its said to be 150-160 crores spent on this film and Hollywood films like avatar had 1000 cr budget. So we cant compare it to hollywood. But I have different opinion here..
If ENDHIRAN made in Hollywood then they might spent only about 200-300 crs. Avatar is such a film which is 10 times huge compare to VFX works done in ENDHIRAN.
In india we have 10 times cheap work talents which is equalent to hollywood talents. So At the cost of 160 crs we defenetly might done ENDHIRAN beter compare to hollywood standards. But why we cant able to do it? Most of the money went to few individual's pockets rather than in to production. Say Rajini, Aishwarya rai, AR Rahman, Shankar etc were paid almost equal to Hollywood salary. Only 40 % of the total budget sepnt on production. That money also not spent rightly ..
I don want to go so deep .. It will become bad ..
We Indians cam make films equal to hollywood standards only when we come out of corruption. In india corruption is every where like it is in cinemas..
ENDHIRAN is a dissapointment eventhough I directly involved in around 400 VFX shots ..
Talking about Indians working on VFX and animation...
There is series by Disney movies 'Tinker Bell' . so far two parts and third is on the way. A wonderful animation picture... At the end, the title runs for nearly 5 mins with all the people who worked on the project.... and out of 5 mins...4.5 mins you can see Indian names....
