Thanks for posting the pictures, Chandra. Has an assessment been made of its age? Being an all brick structure that contains at least two types of bricks, it may be a temple that is on top of an older temple? Any insights from Dr.TS? Regards, Raj Mutharasan
Vepathur There were no temples then..the first temple built was for the Sun at Kanchipuram, known as kailasanatha temple. Christians may have made prayer halls out of brick, which might have been converted into temples later on. R. Narasimhan
Buddhist site for sure, and three types of brick stones are emerging. But sponsors might have limitations in funding further if we do not complete the Vishnu temple atop. Best, we'll reveal what it is and complete installing the Vishnu. Good that Buddha was accomodated as one of the avathars by the Vaishnavaites and other believers alike :) Let Lord Vishnu and Buddha bless us in completing the feat
Weird story!! Never heard before. Buddhist Viharas were known all over! Why suddenly bring in a theory unfounded and invite trouble Mr. Narasimhan? Chandra
