I would like to share my opinion about PS characters.
Vaanathi and ArulMozhi:-
I love vaanathi's character in PS. She is not stupid or silly as interpreted by some of the group members. She saw ArulMozhi as 'Yaanai paagan' and fell in love at first sight. In the conversation between Arulmozhi and vanathi for the first time, initially arulmozhi will be conversing with her in a friendly manner. But after hearing that she is 'Kodumbalur penn' he will cut off the conversation and go away, cause he knew that a girl from kodumbalur is staying in pazhayaarai to marry him hoping that she may become the queen one day when he gets the throne. He thinks that kundavai, kodumbalur velir and vanathi herself have this idea in their minds. So when he gets poonguzhali's help in Ilanakai, he thinks that this love is much better than kundavais, and vanathis' as poonguzhali does not expect anything in return. There will be a line stressing this. "Anbu enbadhu adimai thanam alla'. That is 'When one person is in love with other the former will expect the latter to obey him/her'. This Arulmozhi didn't like. In case of poonguzhali, she helped him but didn't impose her attitudes etc on him and never insisted arulmozhi to do anything. He thought this is true love(selfless). But he didn't love poonguzhali. He tells poonguzhali "un manathilo, en manathilo, kaadhal ponra paithiya kara ennangaluku idam illai". He thought poonguzhali's anbu is better than vanathi's. Vanathi comes to know about this thru vandiya devan when he meets kundavai and tells about poonguzhali' help. She wanted to prove that her love is also selfless. Arulmozhi believes that vanthi wanted to marry him for the throne. He will point out this to kundavai also in nandhimandapam episode. Vanathi's sabatham is not a stupid one. She wanted arulmozhi to understand her selfless love for him and she made the sabadham so that he realizes her true love for him. That's why we can see the change in arulmozhi's character after vanathi's sabadham. In the last two bagams, he will often test her love by saying that "If u are not going to be the queen some one else will become the queen'. I think Arulmozhi's love for vaanathi blossoms fully only after her sabadham. Vanathi tries to go to nagapattinam alone to help arulmozhi. But she could not do it. So her character is one of the best characters in PS. She knows about her,her love and she proves it to the world. As far as Arulmozhi is concerned he likes poonguzhali,he admires her daring nature, but he doesn't love her. He always has a soft corner for vanathi, which blossoms into love later. But his love is not that of 'mad' kind. He wants vanthi to understand his ambitions,goals etc and get along. He is very practical. Vaanthi has been characterised as a pessimist.
