The teams calls the Temple as a Treasure house !

Nice that is timed with our Pallippadai discussion !

our Dear Vijay is kind enough to forward the link.

We record our very best wishes and regards to Dr. Kalaikkovan and
Dr. Nalini for their efforts ..

  • Dear Venkat and Vijay,

Spoke to Dr. Kalaikkovan related to his new finds.

Dr. Kalaikkovan and Dr. Nalini have been working on this alomost for
about a year and have taken efforts and time to assemble the
fragments to read and understand their nature.

As we are aware, the VARALAARU Inscription publication is brought
out by the Dr. Rajamanickanar Research Centre, Trichy, once
necessary number of inscriptions are found, read and compiled.

Tne next issue is due for publication and hence the finds are being
    discussed openly and widely.

Re Udayalur inscriptions - certain inscriptions are copied already
    by ASI and published.

ALREADY means most of them are found between say 1900 and 1930 or
so - by the British ! and hardly much work is done in our
    Independent India !

We heard that there was ASI Ooty (in 1960s ) because it suited to an
official and that became defunct and moved to ASI (Mysore) later
because that suited to another official... where our inscriptions
are lying for the past several decades !

TN State Archeology under Dr. Nagaswamy, Nadana Kasinathan, Dr.
Sridhar, Dr. Vasantha Kalyani and such officials under the
Chiefministership of Dr. MGR, Dr. JJ and Dr. Kalaignar have also
published inscriptions related to various Districts...

To cite an example, there are about 30 inscriptions were published
from Trivualanchuzhi in 1902 by the ASI... (Vol VIII)

State Archlgy under Dr. Vasantha kalyani brought out in about 1987
an exclusive edition (which I purchased in Rajarajan manimandapam
during our last Thanjai trip 2006 ?) covering about 57 inscriptions.

Dr. Kalaikkovan and Dr. Nalini have found about 20 inscriptions
which were not reported earlier... atleast 3 of them are after
escavation of Kshetrabalar temple there). These are reported in "
Varalaaru " book and also published as a separate book.

Put together, we have more than 107 inscriptions in this temple -
found over a period of 100 years !!

Udayalur - (with RRC Pallippadai speculations ) - does kindle
interest in such Scholars - and their contribution in the direction
of finding more details is very much commendable.

    regards/ sps
  • Dear SPS sir,

    dear Sps
is there any excavation going on in udayalur to have enabled doctor
and his team to have found the new inscriptions?
