Islands under Tamil Kings
  • Hi Friends,
    am new to this group... and am currently in Taiwan
    am very much interested in knowing the history that too abt south
    Indians as I am from chola country. this all goes to sandilyan's
    kadal pura and yavana rani which kindled the fire in me... hence
    started reading all historical novels from kalki to kovi
    manisekaran...
    Only 2 days back i came to know abt varalaaru.com... for the past 2
    days am not even able to concentrate in other work as varalaaru has
    occupied me... kudos to the team...
    Each and every line in the varalaaru induces me to visit the place...

    Hi team once am back i'll join in ur meet and trips...
    Now i have few questions in me.. can u help me plsss...

    1.) I want to know wat all islands were under tamil kings and wats
    the old and current name of those islands.
    2.) i heard that Taiwan was also under some tamil king once. Is it
    true? If so may i know which part so that i can visit the place.
    3.) World's largest Hindu temple is built for king Suryavarman II in
    the early 12th century at Angkorwat. Is he Tamil King?? i got this
    doubt on seeing the King's name.

    Since i come across kadaram, savaga theevu, shenbaga theevu, mullai
    theevu, i need the corresponding old names of these islands to easily
    correlate.

    I have few more question
    1.) Do still tamil ppl and their generation living in all of these
    islands?
    2.) Was singapore not under Tamil King? If no, how come and when
    Tamil ppl got settled there.

    I hope i'll get answers for all other questions also.

    manipallavam i think is burma
    mullai theevu is near langa

    yes but they are mostly migrants during the british period
    not sure about indonesia
    2.) Was singapore not under Tamil King? If no, how come and when
    Tamil ppl got settled there.
    singapore was a city in malaysia and became an independent nation after brits left
    the tamils there settled during british era
