I have heard of first sangam in a continent called lemuria( gondwona )

it went into the sea the same time as the fabled
atlantis.

that must have been the time the artic glaciers melted during a
global warming.
I doubt if the lemuria story also had a madurai

but this madurai was always madurai. named after a drop of nectar-
madhu that fell from shivas locks on the first day.

an ancient king built it in the shape of a flower.

the pandyas have had many capitals other than madurai and not
necesserily named them after their mother city.
