in the rear of the amirtha kadeshwarar temple they are putting up a concrete shed. last fortnight when they dug the land for the foundation they discovered a burial urn with a skeleton it was perhaps a pre historic burial site they informed the asi and removed it from the temple premises'
then visited annan koil( sps's favourite i guess)
then came to chidambaram. nataraja had his mahabishekam only yesterday. so he looked rather fresh
there are 5 silver steps leading to the sanctum.covered in silver. called the panchaatchara padikaL.
the legend has it that the new chola king would sit here and have an abhisekham and then he would be crowned in the 1000 pillar hall.
read it some where. but how true is it?
incidentally the kattalai of replacing the silver from these steps belongs to the manali trust. they also have the honour of the holding the kattalai right to the artha jaamam at chidambaram and srirangam(?) i am told. the manali family also at one point owned the mangadu temple
