I earlier had mentioned about one of the most intriguing novels I had read - Kongu Naatu Koman, I read the first part only and could nto get the II, I do not know the author either. But his novel deals with Aditya chozha, he marries Illangopichi the G.daughter of Amogavarsha I of Rashtrkutas and daugther of Krishna. In the novel also figure, Stanuravi Chera, Ganga Prithvipathi, Vikianna, Pallavas Aparajita/Kambha. E.Chalukya Gunaga Vijayaditya.

It is very much possible that Kannaradeva had primogeniture rights on chozha throne, but Parantaka was selected due to his native parentage. Perhaps Chozha was wary of the fact of Pallavas where the Rashtrakuta influence caused trouble between sons of Tellaruerinda nandi and effectively ended the dynasty.
I heard another reason for Rashtrakuta invasion - Takollam was that Chozhas gave refuge to one Govinda a claimant to Rashtrakuta Throne who had married a daughter of Parantaka.
