Dear Sampath, Sri,
As we were discussing, Mr.Meru is North Pole and so we can assume that Hanuman, while going to Mt.Meru saw the sun set(or rather the sun at the horizon and thought that its sun set) for the second time on the same day.
Sri, when I read that stuff from Kamba Ramayanam, I too thought for a long time, that how this is possible while travelling from South to North. Then I assumed Meru should be North Pole. So I didnt stretch my imagination way beyond as you thought. -:) thanks, I could find this stuff, only kindled by your query. The calculations given in the above link are mind boggling.
I am reminded of the novel 'Devils Alternative' by Fredrik Foresyth. I vaguely remember reading that, the hero, in the climax takes the fastest aircraft from the US airforce and travels to Moscow, flying over the north pole instead of flying from West to east, so that he can save one day. So even scietifically its proven that, over night, hanuman could have covered that distace. All the way from Lanka to NP and back and again another round trip to place the mt. back in its place.
Again, its up to the belivers, to belive the incident in Ramayana or the calculations given in the article.... and I do strongly belive.
