Blemishless ArulMozhi--spinning further yarns
  • I spin further yarns of real RR story based upon PS.

Sundara cholas later days see Aditha karikala(AK) and RR being
    popular with people.Uthama chola(UC)isnt popular.Sundara wants his
descendents to come to power,so he makes AK prince, which infuriates
UC.He marries influential sitrarasar's daughters like paluvettarayas
daughter and stakes claim for becoming king.Sembian devi supports
    UC.RR supports karikala.

Karikala carries lots of mass appeal since he had fought in wars
from age 12.RR also has mass appeal due to his ceylon war,but it is
secondary to that of karikala.Karikala is also older than RR,so RR
supports him fully. And sundara chola also refuses to consider
UC,since karikala was already crowned as the next king.

Then UC gets help of pandyas and gets karikala killed. Then chaos
reigns in.Sundara chola is in death bed.UC blames karikala's murder
on vanthya thevan, husband of kunthavai. Many sitrarasars support
UC,due to paluvettarayar.Sembian ma devi also leads a kitchen coup
    to support UC.Sundara is weakened by karikala's death.So a
compromise is reached and uthama gets crowned.

Vanthiya thevan is freed as part of compromise.RR agrees to UC being
crowned to free his sister's husband from death. Then he realizes
that UC killed karikala. He decides to have revenge. He plays
politics. He follows formula of UC and marries many influential
    sitrasar's daughters.

UC is an ineffecient king, who doesnt invade other countries.Since he
was friends with pandyas he doesnt invade them. This slowly creates
public anger, since cholas were valiant and couldnt imagine a docile
king. They perceive RR as their saviour and openly start supporting
    RR.

RR also doesnt take part in wars or invasions, but builds public
support. His son rajendra is born and people love Rajendra since he
was valiant at an young age itself.Maybe Rajendra resembles even
Karikala.UC plays many tricks to defeat RR,but RR defeats it
easily.Uthama isnt such a skilful politician and also people seeing
how he patronised karikala's killers dont trust him.

Then when uthama became very weak politically,RR gains public
support.Uthamas son also is not very valiant and people hate
him. After uthama's death RR ascends to throne and realizes all
    dreams of his brother karikala.

I find many similarities between karikala and Rajendra chola.Had
karikala been king he would have been even greater than RR.Who knows?
  • Again Sampath

You are getting totally enangled in your own yarn. All that yarn that
you have spun takes place after UC ascends the throne. Kalki has
dealt with the period immly preceding UC's ascension when RR himself
is young. All the manipulations and political marriage necessarily
come later and cannot be dealt with at this stage. Do you have any
    problem in understanding that.

I get the feeling that you somehow want to show Kalki in a lesser
light but Kalki is too good for you.

    Regards. Ganesan.
  • Dear Sampath
RR was a co regent with Uthamachola
    .

    > RR also doesnt take part in wars or invasions, but builds public

    What about Pandya invasion...Eelam invasion....Kanthalur salai....and
the distant islands which were conquered sir???

    > I find many similarities between karikala and Rajendra chola.Had
    > karikala been king he would have been even greater than RR.Who
    knows?

One can always speculate....being a warrior is just one part of being
a great monarch Rajaraja was not great becaus he was a great warrior
alone...He is hailed a great monarch because he was a great
strategist...a great administartor... a great builder.... a great
    man....
  • I totally agree with you Ganesan

Reading Sampaths mail is to me like reading Nandhipurathu Nayagi
    again....
