I dont refuse that ArulMozhi is a great emperor.I am proud and honored to claim him as my ancestor.I hold him as an icon of the glory of tamils and I sincerely believe that without RR and Rajendra chola Tamils would not have been a victorious race. These two emperors are as important to tamils as Richard the Lion hearted was for the English and Saladdin was for persians.
But the RR in our minds is totally different from the RR of history. The RR portrayed in our minds is a totally blemishless young man who did not want to ascend to throne bypassing its rightful heir, mathuranthaka. The RR in our minds is one who gave his heart to Vanathi alone and who had a divine love for her.The RR we have in our minds is one who never spoke a word against his father sundara chola. The RR we have in our minds is one who was loved even by his enemies. The RR in our minds never plays politics for becoming king.
But the RR from history is a bit different.Obviously he did not give his heart to Vanathi alone.Obviously he must have played politics to prevent uthama chola's son from ascending the throne. Its also obvious that he must not have voluntarily given up his throne to uthama chola.Because as discussed in this form earlier,RR and uthama chola had lots of differences with each other and RR was totally marginalised during Uthama's rule.Uthama even patronised aditha karikala's killers and its obvious hence uthama and RR must not have been in good terms with each other.
I also come up with my guess work.During karikala's time RR must not have claimed the throne. He might have been a dutiful brother, since karikala was a dream prince with victories attached to him from age 12.His psychopathic nature is a fictional work of kalki,so in reality adithakarikala and PS must have had good image in minds of people.I bet that during the later days of sundara chola aditha karikala must have been more popular than RR,since he already had earned famous victories like killing veerapandiya etc.
I guess that karikala and mathuranthaka must have competed for the throne and arulmozhi and kundavai must obviously have supported karikala.Karikala must also have had the support of people. But mathuranthaka must have had support of sitrarasars. When karikala's stature is high,he suddenly gets killed.Confusion prevails.Sundara chola is in death bed.
A compromise solution is worked out to prevent infighting.Uthama chola becomes king and it is decided that after him RR will come to power. But after uthama chola ascends to throne,RR finds out that he patronizes karikala's killers and guesses that he must have killed his brother.Relations sour.RR gains support of sitrarasars by marrying many daughters of sitrasarars. He plays politics to prevent mathuranthaka killing him or appointing mathurantahkas son as king.He acts as a second power center. He even goes abroad to avoid participating in wars.He thinks that uthama chola might get him killed in a war by an "accidental arrow".
Vandiyathevan also doesnt shine during uthamas reign. He and RR must have been sidelined during uthama's rule. And after uthama dies RR ascends to throne defeating the plans of mathuranthaka with support of people and sitrarasars.
This is my guesswork. The RR in this guesswork is totally different from RR in kalki. My RR is a master strategist whereas kalki's RR is a blemishless youngman.
I based my guesswork on following basis.
1)RR ascends to throne at a very later age.But he marries many women even when he wasnt a king.During 16 year rule of uthama,he marries many women. Is it becasue of his lust or becasue of the strategy to gain support of sitrarasars? He even marries a pandiya princess it seems. 2)Karikala was not a psychopath according to history. But he was a famous warrior from age 12.So i bet that he must have had lots of mass appeal than RR.After karaikalaas death this mass appeal must have turned in favour of RR. 3)RR did not particiapte in any war or wasnt even in limelight during uthamas rule.Uthama also nursed karikala's killers. 4)sembian ma devi must have supported her son.Kundavai and vandiya thevan must have supported RR.Also kundavai need not be as diplomatic as shown in PS.She might have even been an innocent housewife.
This is what i mentioned when i said "arulmozhi was hero worshipped".Obviously RR and Rajendra deserve heroworship for their victories. But had arulmozhi been as innocent as kalki portrays,he would have been killed by uthama earlier itself.
There have been many people who have tried to succed Kalki's success with his charectors and you can join in their hall of fame your imagination is great.....
But the RR in our minds is totally different from > the RR of history. The RR portrayed in our minds is a totally > blemishless young man who did not want to ascend to throne bypassing its rightful heir, mathuranthaka. The RR in our minds is one who gave his heart to Vanathi alone and who had a divine love for her.
>>>>>Polygamy was an accepted norm Second no one knows when Vanathi died after delivering Rajendra....The country need a queen.... So in truth Rajaraja might still have had a divine true love for her or maybe he did not frgive her for deresting her and dying early....
The RR we have in our minds is one who was loved even by his enemies. >>>>>They loved him so much they send two assasins to kill him in Srilanka....They loved him so much they tried to Kill him in Nagapattinam....
The RR in our minds never plays politics for becoming king. >>>>>Yes when there are rightful heirs to the kingdom but when they are gone its a different story Remember PS finishes when RR is still in his twenties..... > > He even goes abroad to avoid participating in wars.He thinks that uthama chola might get him killed in a war by an "accidental arrow". > >>>>>There were no wars in Uthamas reign one of the reasons historians say that Uthama must have had the support of the CHear ans Pandyas in ascending the chola throne.
My RR is a master strategist whereas kalki's RR is a blemishless youngman.
>>>>Even a blemishless youngman can become maste strategist Te William Wallace who shook alarm bells in the english mind was happy farmer who was minding his wn busines in the highlands till someoe meeses him up and the rest is history...Thats how people evolve and develop.... Kundavai need not be as diplomatic as shown in PS.She might have even been an innocent >>>>Kundavai was great philonthropist during RR times and they also claim it was she who brought Rajendra up and made him what he was So she was not a housewife in any way....
