I agree with Geethan,SPS and Kamal....that bashing someone on the basis of onesided or lopsided reports is not justified.
Why the brahmins ...Because they were at the higher echoleons of the society and dictating largely what the others should and shouldnt do...interpreting the religeous works and giving their own veiws....
we did have some interesting volleys on the role of brahmins and why they should be given some stipend to part with their knowledge earlier on...
Rajaji.....was he not the one who advocated Kulathozhil.....No wonder people have forgotton him.
Barathi and VOC are still remembered by the masses but they did not have followers who became politial outfits to constantly to use their name and remind people.
Gandhi and EVR belong to that category but their followers may not have the same standards as them or may be no standards at all...clearly the present day regime doesnt because it was the regime which brought back caste politics naming districts and transports on caste names....
somebody said something about reservation as being as a social evil....and someone else responding that but for the reservation he wouldnt be chatting on the group today...
I agree it leaves a bit to ponder when someone who had scored less than you makes it to the next level where you failed but he or she couldnt have come this far but for the reservation...
I am from madras medical college.....mmc but do you know what it is traditionally called as mudaliar medical college......all the fcs and city boys go to mmc and the out of towners go to stanley and kmc that has only changed recently...thats how a thanjavurian ended up in mmc
it has been said time and agaoin the govts dont honour literary works and heritage as they are seen as religious works...but its our religeous beliefs and social segregations which have caused the social harmony...
there are so many temples which still say hindus only....so if you refuse admission to others in the name of religion the you claerly cannot expect help and acknowledgement....
if you go into bigtemple they dont stop you because its a world heritage centre..if you go to the taj the same happens
So its our religeous beliefs which are at fault and thats why periyar and suyamariyathai thing got so much success in tamilnadu and we have a multistratified intelligentia than what was there before.....
the north had to wait till the eighties to catch up
