Dear All, * The HERITAGE TRIP FOR DECEMBER IS PLANNED AS FOLLOWS:* Cheyyur on the ECR Road The places we have planned to visit on our Cheyyur trip are as follows: 1. Kailasanatha temple which is under renovation belonged to Chola period, Cheyyur. 2. Valmeekinathar temple, Chola period, Cheyyur. 3. Kaliaperumal temple, Vishnu temple, Cheyyur 4. Kandaswamy Murugan temple,16th century temple in one have a glimpse of 24 vedalams erected inside madams around the wall, Cheyyur. 5. Karunkunru, Jaina cave , Onampakkam. 6. Eswaran temple, Chola period, Vedal. 7. Iyyanar sculpture, Pallava period, Chunaambedu.
If we start by 5 a.m. in the morning from Chennai, we can reach Cheyyur by 7 a.m. first, we will be visit Valmeekinathar temple, Kaliya Perumal temple, and Kandaswamy temple. Then we will move on to Kailasanathar temple and have a look at the inscriptions there. We start towards Karunkundru, en route Vedal and Chunambedu. If we are not visiting Karunkunru , we can visit Vayalur where we have Rajasimha Pallava's inscription bearing the names of 56 Pallava rulers, ruled before Narasimha II.

The trip cost inclusive of vehicle, breakfast, lunch and tea/coffee/water is Rs.800/- per head. Epigraphist Shri Ramachandran and Historian Shri Vakula Varadarajan would accompany us to tell us the importance of all these sites.
