Aadi Velli is considered auspicious for workshipping Hindu Goddesses (amman Shakthi). Patteeswaram is near Kumbakoam , which is a Padal sthalam and also importance to Durga. Durga who is the main deity of the Aadi Friday (Aadi Velli). In this Temple , she is stands with majestic appearance and in this day devotees come to this temple and performing poojas. Naga (snakes) Pooja are also perform on this day. Majority of the people workship Nageswaran swamy (snake) in this divine Friday. They offer Milk, Mavillakku (Rice with Jaggery and Sugar) to the Snake idols. It is nothing but “Paambu Puthu” under the Tree in the temples.
