Nandhi Pooja in the Big Temple Thanjavur on the Pongal Festival
The Brihadeeswara Temple is one of the India’s most valuable Monument and Big Temple. The Nandhi is also very big with measuring in approximately 12 feet in height, 20 feet in length and 18 feet in width. The Nandhi (Hoy Bull) is Shiva’s primary vehicle in the Temple.of Siva, we find that the Nandhi is in front of the deity. The truth is that just as Lingam is the symbol of Pramathma and the Nandhi is the symbol of Jeevathma. A person entering the temple always honors Nandhi first, as a way of asking his permission and approval to go into the temple and workship the God Siva. In the Mattu Pongal day, the Nandhi Pooja was performed in the Big temple and decorated with full of Vegetable, Fruits and sweets.
