I'd say it falls under the category of fanfiction, though - a story based on characters created by someone else. And though Vandiyathevan is as historical as they come, surely Azhwarkkadiyaan is Kalki's own creation? It would have been nice to see a disclaimer or something, stating that fact, and that you're writing, using his characters.
