Who's kirumi kanda cholan?
  • Vaishnava traditions say that one chola king tried to kill ramanuja
acharya. He escaped to karnataka. Then the king imprisoned kurathalwan
    and periyavachan pillai,ramanuja's disciples.

King asked them to sign a olai chuvadi. It said "shivam is
greatest".They signed it as "Shivam is greatest than pathak"(shivam
also means 3/4 of a litre and pathak is 0.5 litre--I am not sure)
Angry king asked to blind their eyes.Kurathalwan plucked his eyes
and threw it in front of king.Periyavachan pillay's eyes were
blinded by tying camphor to his eyes.

Which chola king was it?It was in end of 12th century(1190-1210)That
king is referred as "kirumi kanda cholan".Was that kulothunga 1 ,the
    great or his son?
  • It cannot be Kulothunga I. May be Kulothunga III.

Site http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chola gives a good picture of Chola dynasty periods. A good reference.
