Meenakshi amman Kovil was there from "Sanga kaalam" onwards. To my knowledge "Madurai" Meenkashi temple is the only temple, which is in workship from the "sanga kaalam".. none of the other temple is having any ref. around 2000yrs..
Based on this we can say that "nayakka mannarkaL" would have done some renovation work on this temple..
itthanaiyum sollittu "yenakku oru sandheegam". I heard this is not the same old madurai during the sanga kaalam. munbuiruntha madurai "ilangai"-kku pakkatthula irunthathaa sollaraanga.. ethu yentha alavu unmai..?
