I made a post on Cheranmadevi Ramaswamy temple earlier. When i visited there as i could not locate any epigraphs relating to Rama. The moolavar was also not Rama. Hence i thought that it may not be a Rama temple in Pre 12th and the Rama image found from the temple well and worshiped must be a later one.
Now i have the reference of an Inscription and this temple had a Rama image in Rjc period.
ARE 1895 No 183, SII V no 747
Chola Rajendra = RY 8 - AD 1020. Registers a Gift of Land to the deity Sri Raghavachakravarthi.
Hence this temple had a Rama in Rjc period. The present image, taken out from the temple well some 100-150 years back may the one mentioned in the epigraph.
