There is a legend in Tamilnadu that Vali worshiped 108 Lingams every day.
There are many Valiswarar in Tamilnadu and we have seen 4 temples so far.
1. Vada Kurangaduthurai - Referred by Sambandar as
2. Valikondapauram - Which had a merchant assembly during the period Aditya
3. Thiruvaliswaram near Ambasamudram ( Brahmadesam) where RRC stationed a division of his army
4. Thiruvalisvaramudayar - Koliyanur near Villupuram renovated during the 13th year of RRC.
Now the 5th Valisvaram in Takkolam.
This temple is maintained by State Archeology Department.
For the welfare of Rajendra's Mother - Tribhuvana Madeviyar - 32 cows were presented to this temple for daily milk abhishegam.
Copper images of Vinayaga and Uma maheswara were installed.
( the above info is from State Archeology dept info board. I tried with their egmore office for the actual epigraph details - they could not locate immediately but asked me to come after the Tanjore celebrations. Once i get it, i will give full details) The info board also informs about a 11th c Murugan statue, but there is none. The torso lying may be of muruga. A lone brahma is kept outside. No other images.
Lord who had 32 cows for his daily abhishegam - now has just a single kala pooja.
