*Tamil varsity to publish book on rare Chola paintings * Special Correspondent
THANJAVUR: The Tamil University will bring out a book on rare Chola paintings of the Big Temple here as part of the millennium celebrations of the temple said M.Rajendran, Vice-chancellor, Tamil University here on Saturday.
Dr.Rajendran said that he had recently met Gautam Sengupta, Director General of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) recently in Delhi and got the permission for bringing out the publication. Chola paintings are found above the sanctum sanctorum of the temple on the inner corridor of the Vimana. ASI has established an interpretation centre by displaying the photo copies of these paintings at the temple for the benefit of tourists.
