The Vedas are the outpourings of the suffering souls in its early forms In its later forms it becomes the orderly thoughts of a tempered mind They were not written by a single author or even at a single period Yet their poetry and lofty ideals are revered all the time by hindus Every later school of thought has traced their beginnings to them The aim of upanisad was not a systematic philosophy but an attempt to grasp the basic doubts of the wandering minds Most of them are inconsistent, unscientific and repetitive elaborations of a similar theme Yet their value as an intuitive thought of early minds and the religious reflections of Hinduism cannot be ignored The attempts to chart out the cosmos and the strife to fill up ones place in it is the prime theme of the Vedas in essence That is exactly what makes them very relevant even today-to know the fundamental questions in metaphysics rather than the cookbook answers to the fast driven modern life of man!
