Dear Members, In few days, checking all the mails, I observed that we use lots of abbreviations which are quite confusing for a new member like me. It is my humble request to all the members if they can also give the full form of these short abbreviations. Such as in the below mail, I did not get the meaning of 'RRC', what is pre RRC period? I hope that the members would not mind this small request from my side.
Chola dynasty - particularly Imperial Cholas (850 to 1250 AD appxly) ruled around Cauvery Delta. These are recorded in the forms of inscriptions / copper plates.
Kalki ( Famous Writer ) wrote 3 important fictions related to Tamil History. just around pre Independence and post independence.
Sivakamiyin Sabatham re Pallavas ( Mahendra and his son Narasimha).. Around 630 Ad
Parthiban Kanavu - When a Chola (fictitious ) prince Parthiban served under a Pallava ( Mamalla ) dreaming to get back his Empire. The story line should have been reckoned to about 650 AD .. or so.
Ponniyin Selvan - the story commences from Kanchi where Sundara Chola's eldest son Aditha karikalan - Crown Prince = (supposedly) built a golden palace for his father and sent his close friend Vandhiyathevan (who himself was a prince without a kingdom at that point).
He meets Kundavai d/o Sundara. Arumozhi s/o Sundara.
There was some political turmoil and in the process Aditha Karikalan gets killed. ( 969 AD). Most of the Citizens in Chola land desired Arumozhi to succeed his deceased brother. But Arimozhi keeps the Crown over the head of his Chithappa (Sundara's brother's son - who later became to be known as ) Uthama. This happened in about 970 AD
Uthama's mother Sembianmadevi much revered in the Kingdom for her piously nature and renovating temples to Stone structure from then existed brick structure.
After about 15 years of rule by Uthama, he in turn crowns Arumozhi - who assumes the name of Rajaraja @ RRC.
Some of us here are ardent followers of this Great personality !
After huge political success, he adopts the systems followed by Siva devotees known as Nayanamars ! One such Chera King was Cheraman perumal. He befriended Sundara - one Nayanmar who hymned verses in the collection became to be known as Thevaram.
RRC also followed similar path and followed ritual procedures and adopted another name SIVAPATHA SEKARAN ( AT THE LOTS OF FEET OF SIVA)! as ardent follower I also adopted similar thing and using SPS...
our dear Vijay mentions RRC is guiding force..
Now this becomes an Ideology !
Now for quick references, put arumozhi, rajaraja, vandhiathevan, sivapathasekaran in search column.
you will find early discussions. one will lead to another.
