  • Shri P.A. Ramakrishnan Memorial Lecture on Educational Reforms by Shri Michel Danino, will be held on 28th Mar 10 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chennai - at 10 AM.

    Born in France in 1956, Michel Danino left for India in 1977 after
    four years of higher scientific studies. He first participated in the
    English translation and publication of books related to Sri
    Aurobindo and Mother. Researching the origins of Indian
    civilization, he authored a study of
    the Aryan problem (2 ed. 2000), which was expanded in 2006 to
    a 420-page book in French Les
    Belles Lettres, Paris). An English edition is under preparation. In the
    meantime, a major study of the Sarasvati river,
    (Penguin India, 2010) has just come out.
    Michel Danino has lectured at many higher educational and
    cultural institutions all over India, and authored papers on the
    Indus-Sarasvati civilization, the Aryan problem, India's scientific
    heritage, ecological issues, and the challenges faced by Indian
    culture today. He has also done original research into the
    mathematics and metrology behind the town-planning of some
    cities. Some of those papers have been published in journals of
    culture and archaeology.
    In 2001, Michel Danino convened the
    (www.ifih.org) with 160 eminent founder
    members, whose mission is to promote the essential values of
    India's heritage, especially in the educational field. In 2005, IFIH
    concluded for NCERT a major survey of 11,000 school students
    probing their views on culture and education.. IFIH has started work
    on a series of multimedia educational DVDs on specific aspects of
    India's heritage.
    Michel Danino's other interests include Nature conservation and
    photography.He lives near Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu.
