saiva siddhantham-22(thiripura thaganam)
  • thiruchitrambalam,

i have a book LINGA PURANAM in tamil written by S.RAMANATHAN published by giri trading agency pvt ltd-chennai. ph;044-24643551

page no 141 describes the thiripura thaganam,
    three demons are
    VIDDHYUN-MALI
    THARAKA-KSHAN
    KAMALA-KSHAN
    all are sons off tharaka-asuran

there is mention of vishnu inducing the three to go against siva and FOLLOW A RELIGION WHICH PROFESS PURA-SAMAYAM-outer religions-objective idealism(?VEDANTHA;..??BUDDHISM).

the paintings inside the wall of tanjore big temple has one panel for thiru-pura-dhaganam. in this the vishnu and a monk(?buddhist) are seen near the three demons.

objective idealism is closer to HEGEL'S PHILOSOPHY which in turn is closer to empiricists berkely, lockey and hume. they are empiricists who give primal importance to perceptions.

saiva siddhantham is more closer to the descartes, espinoza and leibneitz's model which gives primal importance to ideas.

the later group is also known as the aga-samayam; inner religions(spiritualism).

the stories (PURANAS) belong to the later phase of development of hindu philosophy and may between 1BC-4AD. they all have in its core a theme which is a philosophy and it is given in artistic form to be made into plays, novels, shortstories, pictures, stone carvings or theme panels in temples. most of them preserved in tamilagam.

many of the hard terms in saivasiddhantham are given explanations and descriptions in the form of a story in purans. the purana phase is thus a cultural phase of hindu philosophy.

names like anupakkam, sambupakkam, vignanakalar, pralayakalar, sakalar, are given an image and story and are sculpted in temples. that is the hidden aspect of the various mysterious images we see in the temples.
