Dear PS friends, Happy deepavali (diwali) (deepa oli) to all. I am interested to know whether there is any historical evidence when the celebration of deepavali started in both south and in north India apart from mythological reasons. In north it goes on for five days whereas in south it is celebrated for one day. Fire works must have been started recently probably imported from china. Is there any evidence of deepavali during the chola or pallava periods ? Can anyone elicit ?
