Dear Gokul, I just went back to Sastri. He says : "The sun of Aditya set.. but Uthama's cupidity triumphed, because of Arumoli's restraint Having noticed by the marks (on his body) that Arumoli was very Vishnu, Madurantaka installed him in the position of Yuvaraja and himself bore the burden of the earth" Meaning Arumoli was youthful and was a prince Rajakesari. According to Sethuraman, RR died in 1014. 30 yrs ruling. Ascendency in 985. 16 years ruling by Uthama. Ascendency in 969. If RR was Yuvaraja in the teenage of 19 max, he should have been born in 950 or 951. The general theory is he died at the age of about 63. I am sure you also know this calculation. Then the answer to the child : May be grand child though Aditha Karikalan ? who was widower! (Googlieeeeeeee ) Howdjalike it? Obviously Kundavai & Arumoli could not take care of a tender child .
> May be grand child though Aditha Karikalan ? who was widower! > (Googlieeeeeeee ) Howdjalike it? Obviously Kundavai & Arumoli > > > could not take care of a tender child .
Dear SB, :-))) A very rich imagination indeed! But this will give rise to other complications like what happened to that child etc. At the moment I'll keep the thiruvalangadu plate lines as a mystery yet to be solved. I'm still not very convinced that this is just the imagination of the poet or that the child was actually to represent chola nadu. Because the expressions are very powerful - sadasiva pandarathar makes a special mention about these lines.
