Parantaka had the title "Veera Naarayanan" among many other titles. It was he who built Veeranathu eri and installed Lord Narayana to protect the eri. I don't know whether the temple existed even before and parantaka simply renovated it. Parantaka also built several tanks across the country for the purpose of irrigation.
The great king's last days were marred by more than one sad news: - He lost his first son rajadittha in thakkolam - He lost another son uttama seeli to veera pandiaya( who was later revenged by aditha II) - He lost some territories to rashtrakutas during the last days.
It was only after Sundara chola that the empire gained the strength it lost.
I always pity parantaka for not having a peaceful time during his last days. What a king!
Kalki says Veeranarayana eri was built by Paranthaka but also says He was the one who Gold Roofed Chidambaram....So whethere He was a saivaite with open mind for Vishnu is a question.
Aditya I is famous for builting 64 temples for siva so he coulnt have been vaishnavaite either.

He was the very same person. Veera pandiya was very young when he killed uttama seeli and cliamed the title Sozhan thalai konda veera pandiyan.
Later the young adita killed him (veera pandiya should have been quite old but not very old by then) and had the title "veera pandiyan thalai konda kopaara kesari"
2.If you assume veerapandiyan was 20 when he killed ......when arinjaya was in the same age..assuming...sundaracholar was born to him when he was 20..and aditha karikalan was born to SC at 20 and he killed veerapandiyan when he was 18-20 that makes veerapaniyan....56--60 years when he was killed...far fetched I think ...personal opinion..
