PS - Status Tracking Mechanism
  • Hello Guys,
I've come up with a primitive status tracking approach, which we
    could
adopt for PS related activies. The tracking file is located in our
    files
    section called
    "PS-StatusTracker.xls"
I need your inputs abt this approach on
1)feasibility - if it is not practical, we can drop it and look for
    some
    other mechanism
    2)usability
    3) if above 2 issues are satisfactory then some suggestions on the
    format /
    data stored

    My approach is as follows:
    1) All tasks apart from the core tasks will get into future projects.
    (Pl.
note that core tasks are not yet complete in this list. Once an
    approach is
agreed, It would be helpful if respective persons can spend some time
    and
    get them into this sheet)
    2) This file will be owned by a some people (unidentified)..The
    status of
the tasks will be updated only by owner(s) of the file (not the
    task).
    3) The owner(s) who in turn can send a consolidated email once in a
    couple
of week informing the status of each task
    4) It is the responsibility of file owner(s) to add new projects /
    tasks as
an when raised by individual member(s) by spotting them in PS group
    emails

If the approcah is finalised based on everyones input, we can apply
    the
    same for varalaaru as well..

    Well, thats it really..
  • Dear jana,
Quite a significant idea - I have not seen your excel as yet - but
would prefer a database table for one simple reason:

A Database table can be easliy updated online whereas an excel has to
be downloaded, edited and uploaded - which is a bit of trouble.

You can control the permissioning of the database better.

Otherwise I fully agree with your ideas. Makes lot of sense.

    Good work!
