Hi everyone, Just returned from a trip to Kashmir and Ladakh.First let me wish all a VERY late deepavalli greeting.I had the previlege of staying with the army all during my stay in J&K. Hats off to the jawans who were standing gaurd everywhere.I went to Pangong Tso lake which lays half in China at some 14,600 ft, Kardungla pass at 18,650ft and Sonamarg.They were so happy see to us .Even when the temp. was -15 degrees at 11 in the morning the gave us hot tea and hot lunch. They said " please tell we are here and we will not let our country down". But I feel the govt. has to a lot more for them. They pay taxes for their salary.I think this should go.
Any way i was happy to be there in their midst. I thougt of our kings who went up to the mighty himalayas in an age when they had to prepare their journey so much in advance. I missed reading the group"s letters. with regards, shanthi palaninathan.
